Dr. Julika Gittner

Dr Julika Gittner is an artist, researcher and educator working at the intersection of art and public engagement. She recently completed a Senior Research Fellowship at the RIFS Research Institute for Sustainability GFZ Helmholtz Centre in Potsdam where she researched the potential of sculpture as an alternative medium for communicating knowledge in public consultation processes around sustainability transformations in Berlin. Her artwork has been exhibited internationally, and she recently completed a practice-based PhD in Art and Architecture (AHRC funded) which explored how sculptural representations of data can be used as counter-evidence to support social housing campaigns in controversial regeneration processes in London. She was a design fellow (2010–23) at the University of Cambridge, teaching architecture at both undergraduate and graduate levels and currently runs a history and theory seminar entitled Consultation Counter Cultures at the Architectural Association in London.
