Fördermittel / Funding – Mobile Kitchen on the Campus
Mobile Kitchen on the Campus is a project located on the Nordcampus at TU Braunschweig. Given the varied and abundant natural resources covering and buffering the Nordcampus — alongside the limited awareness and insufficient guidance on human-plant interactions in the current curriculum — the project aims to transform and deepen the understanding of human-plant interactions among young people and local groups in Braunschweig. The main goals of the project include sharing embodied plant knowledge, fostering respect and care for more-than-human species in urban habitats, and exploring diverse spatial practices that respond to the climate emergency and other social crises.
The funding – EUR 5,000 – was received from the Bingo Umweltstiftung.
The mobile kitchen has been renovated from an old structure made of recycled metal tubes, originally built during a basic course by Michael Zwingmann at the Institute of Architecture Related Art (IAK) at TU Braunschweig in 2019. Recycled materials are used throughout the renovation process and in all new installations. It provides flexible spaces to host local plant-related workshops, foraging walks, and guided tours of surrounding community gardens. After the project ends, the mobile kitchen will continue to be used as part of the OpenCultures and the CoLiving Campus projects, serving as a venue for workshops and foraging walks.
