El Cabanyal: an urban drama or missed opportunity?

The work, produced in the context of the seminar Re:participate – "Abandon Normal Instruments", tells the story of El Cabanyal, a neighbourhood in the city of Valencia. But El Cabanyal is not your average place. At the end of the 19th century, the former fishing village is swallowed by the expanding city of Valencia. Its fortunes are mixed. In the 1980s, the then governing party, the right-leaning Partida Popular, wants it torn down - too big are the problems, they say. Against this, other stories emerge, become strong and visible. In a series of speculative interviews - we hear this story told from 4 different fictitious though entirely plausible and absolutely gripping perspectives
